What Is AQUALYX®?

AQUALYX® is a fat-dissolving injectable treatment that works by breaking down and liquefying fat cells, which are then naturally eliminated by your body over time. It’s ideal for small, localised areas of fat and is not a weight-loss solution, but a powerful contouring aid.

The active ingredient is deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body that helps absorb fat.

What is AQUALYX?

Aqualyx is developed for the non-surgical reduction of localized stubborn fat pockets under the skin. It is an injectable, gel-based aqueous solution, which dissolves fat and is biocompatible and biodegradable.

How does Aqualyx work?

Aqualyx Fat Dissolving Injections are a specially-formulated compound solution which is injected by a specially trained doctor into the problem area. It works by attaching to fatty deposits, breaking them down over time. The fat is then naturally dissolved and flushed out by the body. Results are effective, quick, and minimally invasive.

Which areas can be treated using Aqualyx?

Aqualyx Fat Dissolving Injections can be used to treat almost all small deposits of fat, but the most popular treatment areas are on the chin, thigh, hips, arm, and stomach.

Who will treat me at Hampton Aesthetic Clinic? Is he/she medically qualified and insured?

You will always be treated by a medical doctor trained in aesthetics who is also fully insured to carry out aesthetic procedures.

What is my appointment like at Hampton Aesthetic Clinic?

When you initially make the appointment, we will send you some instructions on how to prepare for the appointment. For example, we will ask you to avoid alcohol for 24-48 hours prior to the procedure.
Once at the Clinic, first you will be greeted and handed over the registration and medical form. Then the doctor will go the form with you and check your suitability for the procedure.
You can then discuss what your concerns are and what you want to achieve and ask any questions you have.
He will then assess you, measure and mark the fat areas and discuss treatment plan. The treatment uses specialised needles to administer the solution into the fat deposits.
You will be given Aftercare advice and make sure you understand everything.
Once you have had your treatment the areas injected may be slightly red and there will also be some swelling which will subside a couple of days after treatment.with stubborn bulges.

Does Aqualyx treatment hurt?

There will be some discomfort while injecting but if needed, can add lidocaine (an anesthetic) to the AQUALYX solution so that the two are injected together to minimize discomfort.

How long does it take to do?

The appointment will take about one hour but this can differ depending on the area of treatment.

How long does it take to recover from the procedure?

It varies with the patient and treatment areas but in general you can expect about one to two days. There are a few things you need to do to look after yourself post procedure. We will provide you with the Aftercare information and explain everything you need to do.

When will I see the results?

It’s recommended to have between two and five sessions to see a significant effect. Treatment for fat pockets underneath the neck and chin, for example, may require 1 – 3 treatments, while treatment for fat pockets on the hips and thighs may require about 8 treatments.

When is the treatment with AQUALYX not recommended?

AQUALYX is not recommended when the patient is suffering from acute or chronic skin disease in the affected area. For safety reasons all patients with a medical history including anaphylactic reactions, severe allergies, severe organic or physical illnesses, autoimmune disease or diabetes, as well as women who are pregnant or breastfeeding are excluded from any treatment with AQUALYX. The consultation will cover this thoroughly.

Are there any side effects?

People treated with AQUALYX will typically experience less side effects when compared to more invasive procedures, such as liposuction. Side effects include allergic reaction, some bruising, redness, swelling and tenderness in the treated area. All these are expected side effects that will settle within either a few days or weeks depending on how you react to it. The manufacturers report that to date no major side effects of AQUALYX use have been reported to them.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

Facial treatment is £300 per session. For the body treatments, it is recommended that you come in for a consultation to get a quotation as it depends on the size of the area of fat that needs treating.
