What Is Profhilo®?

Profhilo® is an injectable skin booster made of pure hyaluronic acid (HA)—a substance naturally found in your skin. Unlike traditional dermal fillers, Profhilo doesn’t add volume. Instead, it spreads beneath the skin to deeply hydrate, stimulate collagen and elastin production, and improve overall skin tone, texture, and elasticity.

It’s often referred to as an “injectable moisturiser”—but the results go far beyond hydration.

What is Profhilo?

Profhilo is the first BDDE-free stabilised injectable hyaluronic acid (HA) based product for treating skin laxity. With one of the highest concentrations of HA on the market, it is not only boosting and hydrating the skin, but also remodels the ageing and sagging tissue. Profhilo delivers great results as a treatment on its own or in combination with other aesthetics treatments currently on offer.

How does Profhilo work?

As a stabilised product Profhilo lasts in the skin around 28 days. During this time the stimulation of 4 different types of collagen and elastin takes place by slow release of HA. The stimulation results in significant tissue improvement. Perhaps it is best-described as a ‘bio-rejuvenator’, ‘bio-revitaliser’ or ‘tissue-stimulator’ and these terms are catching on as aesthetic medicine moves in a new direction.

What are the advantages of having Profhilo?

Profhilo® is capable of stimulating your natural production of all four types of collagen and elastin – these vital substances which are lost from the skin as we age. It has been reported that from the age of about twenty, each year we lose around 1% of the collagen and elastin from our skin tissue. As a result of this gradual depletion, the skin becomes thinner and as the time goes by it has less and less of its youthful ‘bounce’. So it is accurate to say that it can effectively cure certain kinds of wrinkles from within the skin, by boosting and utilising your natural processes giving the skin a more youthful look. It provides hydration to the skin especially in the epidermis (the Hydro effect).

Who will give me Profhilo at the clinic? Is he/she medically qualified and insured?

You will be treated by a medical doctor trained in aesthetics.

What is my Profhilo appointment like at Hampton Aesthetic Clinic?

When you initially make the appointment, we will send you some instructions on how to prepare for the appointment. For example, we will ask you to avoid alcohol for 24-48 hours prior to the procedure.
Once at the Clinic, first you will be greeted and handed over the registration and medical form.
Then the doctor will go through the form with you and check your suitability for the procedure.

You can then discuss what your concerns are and what you want to achieve and ask any questions you have.

He will then assess your face, take some photos before the procedure.

You will be looked after by his assistant who will make sure any make up is removed and the area is cleansed.

Then the doctor will inject the product using very fine needles in five specific points on the face that Profhilo call the Bio Aesthetic Points (BAPs). You will be given numbing cream to ease the discomfort.
The BAP technique is seen as the optimum method for placement of the HA for the lower face. It allows the treatment to be effective and simple, reducing the chance of pain, bruising or haematoma at the injection site.

Once injected, the product immediately starts spreading due to the high concentration of HA and its cohesive nature. It flows and distributes itself evenly, rather than remaining where it is placed, naturally and without resistance integrating within your skin’s existing tissue.

Is the procedure painful?

Not painful but can be slightly uncomfortable.

Which areas are treatable with Profhilo®?

Profhilo® is especially effective at treating loose skin in the face, neck and jowls as well as other areas usually considered difficult to treat with injectable products, such as hands & upper arms.

How long does the procedure take?

The procedure itself only takes less than 20 minutes. But your appointment is for 45 minutes, so you can have the consultation and discuss needs and prepare for the appointment fully and the procedure will never be rushed.

How long does it take to recover from the procedure?

There is no recovery time for Profhilo as such however, the product is injected in small deposits, you may be able to see them initially but they settle usually within hours. It may be possible to feel the product where it has been injected under the skin. It will settle and there is no need to massage. We will provide you with the Aftercare information and explain everything you need to do.

What are the side effects?

Side effects will only be mild and redness that appear for some time such as erythema (redness), pain, itching, discolouration or tenderness at the injection site. The doctor will explain things in detail at the consultation.

How long will the results last?

You should notice the results of the treatment – increased firmness, elasticity and an overall improved quality of your skin – lasting around six months.
However, other factors can affect the results, including the degree of correction needed, your age and lifestyle and your skin’s natural ageing process.

How many treatments will I need?

For most patients, we recommend an initial course of two treatment sessions, with an interval of one month between sessions. We may then recommend top-up and maintenance sessions, depending on your body’s response to the initial treatment.
